sheinelle. yeah, the record-breaking summer travel season means incredibly busy roads this weekend. many families opting for the regional road trips to stick closer to home now that the kids are back in school. according to aaa, these are the top domestic destinations with seattle topping the list for its cooler temperatures and smaller crowds. if you are planning to head into any of these major cities this weekend, leave yourself some extra travel time, sheinelle. >> what is your best bet to avoid the traffic? >> reporter: well, if you are planning to hit the roads today, the best time to do it would be before noon. saturday is a completely different story. it is better to leave afternoon. and for travelers returning home on sunday or monday, the earlier the better to avoid those afternoon traffic jams. but some good news for motorists is the price at the pump has actually been steadily decreasing with the average national gas price at $3.36 per gallon, down 14 cents from last month and down 46 cents from
