summer. >> scotland. >> northern virginia. >> and l.a. >> airfares down slightly this year and travelers are taking off at a record pace this labor day week end. >> time to get away from jersey for a little bit. >> atlanta is expected to be the busiest airport with more than 9,000 flights departing and 1.1 million seats scheduled. in second place, chicago's o'hare. >> are you a little stressed right now? >> it looks like the security lines might be a little longer than we would like. >> and there has been some early headaches already with extreme weather across the country potentially impacting the labor day travel rush. tornadoes touching down in the midwest causing extensive damage, ripping down trees and knocking down power for thousands. the dakotas also hit hard by twisters, throwing these freight cars off the tracks in north dakota. on the east coast, golf ball sized hail.

sheinelle. yeah, the record-breaking summer travel season means incredibly busy roads this weekend. many families opting for the regional road trips to stick closer to home now that the kids are back in school. according to aaa, these are the top domestic destinations with seattle topping the list for its cooler temperatures and smaller crowds. if you are planning to head into any of these major cities this weekend, leave yourself some extra travel time, sheinelle. >> what is your best bet to avoid the traffic? >> reporter: well, if you are planning to hit the roads today, the best time to do it would be before noon. saturday is a completely different story. it is better to leave afternoon. and for travelers returning home on sunday or monday, the earlier the better to avoid those afternoon traffic jams. but some good news for motorists is the price at the pump has actually been steadily decreasing with the average national gas price at $3.36 per gallon, down 14 cents from last month and down 46 cents from

>> we have had a lot of extra rains and a lot of mosquitos around. >> rare but potentially deadly mosquito born illnesses plague parts of the country. >> it is crazy. you are sitting on my back porch for ten minutes and i go back inside and i have like ten bites. >> reporter: wisconsin officials linking two deaths to west nile, with nearly 300 cases reported in 33 states. and now there is a sixth case of eastern equine encephalitis or eee, the virus found in five states that's killed one man. >> i think it will be a significant concern in the future. >> reporter: cities taking action, spraying neighborhoods to help protect residents. for those heading to a lake for labor day, be on high alert. mosquitos look for still, fresh water.

in moscow is already tainted. >> in their final plea to get the trial relocated, bryan kohberger's defense made it clear. >> mr. kohberger has the constitutional right to defend his trial by a jury. to guarantee that, this court must change venue. >> a judge entered a not guilty plea on behalf of kohberger, the accused killer of four university of idaho students who sat in the courtroom thursday as his lawyers argued to move the trial to boise, where the population and potential jury pool is more than ten times larger. the defense called multiple expert witnesses who say news stories about the case oversaturated the community. >> do you mean that when we walk into trial and the room is full

of potential jurors, there will be a great majority of them that will have a feeling of bias against mr. kohberger. >> yeah, i do. >> defense witnessed testified it may have a stronger sway. according to our interview after the defendant's arrest. >> are there any other suspects or are you 100% certain this is your guy? >> i am certain this is our guy. >> in doubts? >> no doubt. >> but prosecutors pushed back. >> your honor, this case has media coverage everywhere. >> saying they are confident they can find and seek an impartial jury. >> latow county is not a tiny community. it is not so tiny that we could not summons in a jury of 1,800. >> that argument echoed by the victims' families who say they also want the trial here. >> i don't think that's asking too much. >> now the fate of the case in the hands of the judge as pressure mounts for the trial to
