on December 19 1908 in Johannesburg South Africa to Robert and Annie Byth lie immigrated to Chicago IL in 1913 He graduated from North western University with degrees in Civil Mechanical and Industrial En gineering and did graduate work at Penn State He was a Lt Com mander in the US Navy from 1936 to 1946 and served in the Pa cific during WWI1 having been at Pearl Harbor on December 7 1941 He worked for the Department of Defense as a civilian until his retire ment in 1974 He was a member of the Masonic Order He was preced ed in death by his wife of 53 years Amber He is survived by
