in 1 West Des Moines died of a heart ailment Friday at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Des Moines, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. She was born in Chester, and had lived in the Des Moines area for 14 years. Mrs.

Guarine and her daughter, April, often entertained residents at the Hillhaven West nursing home in West Des Moines with singing, a Bible study and parties on Valentine's Day, Easter and Christmas. "A nursing home ministry wouldn't have been my idea of a ministry to be involved in," Mrs. Guarine once said. "We lived nearby, and we just thought those folks needed love. I just feel the Lord led us into this ministry." When April Guarine got butterflies during solo singing performances, Mrs.

Guarine suggested using hand puppets to shift the center of attention. While her daughter sang, Mrs. Guarine worked the puppets. She also did the voices for characters. The family made about 150 appearances each year to nursing homes, churches, schools and prisons, mostly in the Midwest.

They have also made five professional recordings. In addition to her daughter, survivors are her husband, Louis; another daughter, Maria Guzman of Des Moines; and three grandchildren. Clarence W. "Bill" Guhl, 78, of 2838 Richmond Ave. died of cancer Friday at Luther Park Care Center, 1555 Hull where he had been for a week. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, of which he was a member.

Burial will be at Resthaven Ceme- tery in West Des Moines. Mr. Guhl was born in Vincent and had lived in Des Moines for 55 years. He was a retired postal clerk, a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps, and a member of the Izaak Walton League and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Survivors include his wife, Ann; a son, Charles, and a daughter, Karen Kuntz, both of Des Moines; a brother, Albert of Jewell; four sisters, Emma Isvik, Alma Thorsbakken and Lillian Guhl, all of Story City, and Mildred Heggen of Ames; and five grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamilton's Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to his church. Deane Davis, 81, of Panora died of a heart ailment Friday at his farm. Services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday at Panora United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at West Cemetery in Panora. Mr. Davis was born in Dallas County and was a farmer. He was a member of the Panora Masonic Lodge and the Lions Club.

From' 1960 to 1970, he served as a Guthrie County supervisor. Robert L. Jennings 15, of De Soto, son of Georgina Ham of De Soto and Robert Jennings of Des Moines, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The death has been ruled a suicide. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial at Oakland Cemetery in De Soto.

Robert was born in Des Moines and was a ninth-grade student at Adel-De Soto High School. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his stepfather, John Ham of De Soto, and his stepmother, Terry Jennings of Des Moines; two sisters, Kellie Pierce of De Soto and Rhonda Jennings of Grand Island, two stepsisters, Jennie Ham and Jonna Ham, both of De Soto; two stepbrothers, Scott McDaniel and Steve McDaniel, both of Des Moines; and his grandparents, Geraldine Hudson of Adel, Margaret Cleghorn of Des Moines and George Jennings of Summerset. Mrs. Thompson was born in Franklin County and had lived in Des Moines for several years, wintering in Arizona. Fred L. Davis, 75, of Grinnell died of a heart ailment Friday at Friendship Manor there. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with burial at Hazelwood Cemetery there. Mr.

Davis was born in Marshalltown and had lived in Grinnell since 1954. He moved to the care center in 1992. He had owned Davis Ice Cream Shop and was also a sales clerk for the Iowa Liquor Store, an army veteran of World War II and a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.
