Dignity Clayton, Chuck (Charles) John, aged 59 years and 8 months, entered into the Lord's Holy Kingdom, April 25, 2009, after a long and eventful earthly life. He was born to Edward Nathan Clayton and Winifred M. (Guile) Clayton, September 19, 1949; at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Chuck grew up in Wichita, and graduated from Wichita South High School in 1967.

The great loves of Chuck's life were his family, Colorado Mountains, hiking, farming, tending his beloved horses and dog, He was also a talented musician. He enjoyed sharing his rare musical gifts to all around him, and he especially shined when playing for the elderly in local nursing homes or singing praises to his beloved Lord. Chuck will always be a powerful force and memory in our lives. No matter what the challenge, how big or small, or daunting, Chuck "Never, Never" gave up. For his beautiful, determined, graceful, Free Spirit, he will live on in the hearts of us all.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Edward N. Clayton; brother, Lawrence Edward Clayton, and sister, Mary Anne Pryor. Survivors include: mother, Winifred Clayton and sister, Cheryl McMillin both of Wichita, Kansas; children, Travis (Kristi) Hoffine, Cazenovia, WI, Cody Clayton, Quincy, CA, Kelly (Cory) King, Windsor, CO, C. She married Homer L. Lawrence on Aug. 17, 1941 in Chanute, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband Homer, daughter Jeanne Ann Birkholz and brother Harold Looney. Helen was a very kind person and a joy to anyone who came to know her.

During World War II she worked in the ammunitions plant in Parsons, KS. She was a church deacon, active in various church organizations and served as co-chairman to the Navy Mothers both during and after her sons served in Vietnam. Lakeview A Lasting Tribute Kansas Leahy, Msgr. Patrick Joseph 94, a retired priest of the Diocese of Dodge City, died April 30, 2009, at the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire. He was born in Abbeyfeale, Ireland, Oct. 6, 1914, the son of Patrick and Johanna (Ward) Leahy. He was ordained June 19, 1938, by the Most Reverend Thomas Keough at All Hallows College, Dublin.

He was elevated to the rank of monsignor on October 14, 1965. He was known for his humor and energy. He used the weekly parish bulletins not only to disperse information, but to spread laughter, interesting historic notes and Church teaching. He came to the Diocese of Wichita long before the active recruiting trips of Msgr. John Cody in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

He enjoyed telling the story of a conversation between David Leahy and Bishop August Schwertner. "David Leahy was in his day a Probate Judge in Sedgwick County, also editor of the Wichita Eagle and Wichita Beacon, When I was a seminarian in All Hallows. Dave said to Bishop Schwertner, 'You have no Father Leahy in the diocese, I'd like to see one here before I die. A cousin of mine is in a Dublin That's the expedient story of my being incardinated into Wichita." He served at St. Patrick's, Parsons, (1938-1942); Sacred Heart, Fredonia, (1942-1945), and St.

John the Evangelist, El Dorado (1945-1950). He was pastor at St. John the Evangelist, Hoisington, (1950-1965), when the Diocese of Dodge City was established in 1951. His other pastoral assignments in the Diocese of Dodge City were: Mary, Queen of Peace, Ulysses, (1965-1966); Sacred Heart, Larned, (1966-1969); St. Joseph, Offerle, (1969-1971); Immaculate Conception, Claflin, (1971-1980), and St.

Mary, McCracken, (1980-1998). After he retired to the Priests' Retirement Center in Wichita, he spent five hours a day in the adjacent Catholic Care Center assisting the residents in wheelchairs to daily Mass and to the dining hall. Vigil for Msgr. Leahy will be Monday, May 4th, 7 pm at the St. Elizabeth Chapel, Catholic Care Center, 6700 East 45th Street North, Bel Aire.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, May 5th, 11 am, also in the St. Elizabeth Chapel with Bishop Ronald M. Gilmore presiding. Burial will be in Ascension Cemetery, Wichita. Memorials can be sent to the Ann and Virgil Dechant Foundation, P.O.

Philip was a hair stylist and worked at various salons in Wichita throughout his career. He is survived by his life partner of 24 years, Lyndon Woodson, mother; Mary Ann Neil, father and stepmother; Dave and Wanda Adams, sister and brother-in-law; Anita and Mike Schafer, 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 3 great-nephews and 1 great-niece. Phil was loved by family and many caring friends; and those of us who had the priviledge of knowing him, have come to appreciate his kindness, generosity, and his wicked sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

Jimbo was born January 10, 1959, the eldest son of Steven Leon Newman (deceased) and Flora Richards Newman, currently of Seaside, Oregon. He IS the grandson of Joseph and Goldie Newman, and Hugh and Opal Richards, all deceased. Jim is survived by his younger brothers Charles Leon of Wichita and Christopher Bryon of Oregon. He is also survived by his three children by marriage, Scotty Duncan, Jennifer Copeland and Crystal Duncan, and granddaughter Haley Copeland, of Wichita. Jim was preceded in death by his grandson Dominick.

Jim I lived most of his 50 years on South Minnesota, graduating from South High and Wichita Vo-Tech. He worked many years at Boeing and also recently the Federal Building, and spent much time doing favors and odd jobs for his relatives, friends and strangers. Jim had a large extended family with 16 aunts and uncles and 53 first cousins, plus all their spouses and children. Jimbo was everyone's favorite he was a great teacher for fishing, driving and car repairs, and he'd eat anything put in front of him; very exciting to those kids who could catch grasshoppers. Jim's list of friends is endless as he treasured each person, from "the four musketeers" that hung out on South Minnesota, to the many fishing, archery and work buddies that stayed an important part of his entire life.

He was a highly skilled outdoorsman, fisherman, archer and machinist--an honest, salt-of-the-earth man with a twinkle in his eye and a good story for any pretty lady. Kansas has a little less sunshine now; he will be deeply missed. Service and interment to be held June 27, 2009 at Lakeview. Noel, Audrey, 94, retired 1st Securities Company secretary, passed away, Friday, May 1, 2009. Services will be 1:00 p.m.
