Fox pledges juvenile crime fight Police will soon begin a new approach to fighting juvenile crime and will develop card files on neighborhood business owners and residents, Police Chief Jeffrey G. Fox told about 40 near West Side residents at a meeting last night of the Tremont Area Civic Association. Fox declined to give details, but said funds for the juvenile plan are available and its announcement is imminent.

He said having files on hand identifying occupants of buildings will make it easier for police to locate them in case of trouble. Such files have already been developed for downtown businesses, Fox The audience, mostly elderly persons, complained about their fear of violence from neighborhood teen-agers, the lack of beat patrolmen and what was described as policemen's antagonistic attitudes. A nun said marijuana smoking and prostitution were practiced by some area children as young as 10. Fox said that anyone with complaints about specific policemen should call him directly. Someone in the audience laughed and said, "(Safety Director James Barrett told us the same thing and we never can get him." Fox promised them he will visit the school and check into the complaints.
