Aaron M. Clifford, son of Mr. and Mars: John P. Clifford of Main was struck by a car driven by Mrs.

Lena Gilbert, 67, of Mountain St. The accident occurred on Mountain St. Mrs. Gilbert told police she was making A right turn onto Mountain St. from Rte.

9 when she heard a thump. She stopped the car, she said, and found the youngster lying in the street. The boy was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital by the Nowell Ambulance Service. Medical Examiner Thomas Corriden pronounced the boy dead at the hospital of a fractured skull, fractured jaw, and head and shoulder lacerations. Police said two a tecn-age girls witnessed the accident.

The accident is being investigated by Trooper Herbert Spafford and Registry of Motor Vehicles Inspector William Dowd of Northampton.
