Every day, our TailorMed Complete team helps patients afford lifesaving care. Find out how navigatorJennifer Burgesseased the cost burden for a patient with stage IV uterine cancer. ⬇️Jen enrolled the patient in the Merck Access copay assistance program, saving her thousands of dollars. 💫“Most of the oncology patients I work with are inundated with medical appointments, imaging or scans, bloodwork, and more. When one of those interactions can bring good news, such as lessening the financial burden, I call it a win. Experiences like this truly make what we do at TailorMed feel like the best job in the world.”- Jen Burgess, Financial Navigator, TailorMed#movingmountainsforpatients#patientstory#financialnavigation#cancercare#bladdercancer#affordability

Did you know that at least 30% of the time cancers are misdiagnosed or mis-staged when first detected, as reported from the National Institutes of Health. Not only does this make it harder for patients to beat cancer but it also means thousands spent going down the wrong path. But how to prevent this? At Equinox Benefit Consulting, we work with best in-class cancer management groups that help our clients get a second opinion from National Centers of Excellence. Find out how Equinox can help when dealing with difficult cancers to bring you these services previously only accessible by fortune 500 companies. I'd be glad to discuss. https://loom.ly/9ERrjAQ

Using physicians’ patient panels to classify physician rurality identified more oncologists treating patients living in rural areas vs standard methods that rely on practice location, and may more accurately capture oncologists in rural cancer care. https://ja.ma/41RmtDV

This article boldly ventures into a subject of paramount significance in oncology: patient empowerment. The proposition is as straightforward as it is revolutionary – patients aren’t merely passive recipients, but active participants....empowering patients and revolutionizing the approach to healthcare to more accommodate the natural advantages that an empowered patient brings to the table. #theEmpoweredPatient #healthcare #oncology https://lnkd.in/g4zF7655

Aggressive cancer treatment therapy at the end of life is associated with adverse outcomes such as increased ER visits, hospital admissions, ICU stays, delayed hospice transition, death in acute care settings, and higher costs. Despite efforts to reduce chemotherapy use within 14 days of death, there has been no decrease and a shift to more expensive and futile treatments. To identify contributors to this trend, researchers from Yale Cancer Center and Flatiron Health analyzed a large #realworlddata set that included patient factors and practice-level variation. These findings can provide healthcare providers and policymakers with the information needed to enhance end of life care for cancer patients and their overall quality of life.
