Did you know that at least 30% of the time cancers are misdiagnosed or mis-staged when first detected, as reported from the National Institutes of Health. Not only does this make it harder for patients to beat cancer but it also means thousands spent going down the wrong path. But how to prevent this? At Equinox Benefit Consulting, we work with best in-class cancer management groups that help our clients get a second opinion from National Centers of Excellence. Find out how Equinox can help when dealing with difficult cancers to bring you these services previously only accessible by fortune 500 companies. I'd be glad to discuss. https://loom.ly/9ERrjAQ

This article boldly ventures into a subject of paramount significance in oncology: patient empowerment. The proposition is as straightforward as it is revolutionary – patients aren’t merely passive recipients, but active participants....empowering patients and revolutionizing the approach to healthcare to more accommodate the natural advantages that an empowered patient brings to the table. #theEmpoweredPatient #healthcare #oncology https://lnkd.in/g4zF7655

Aggressive cancer treatment therapy at the end of life is associated with adverse outcomes such as increased ER visits, hospital admissions, ICU stays, delayed hospice transition, death in acute care settings, and higher costs. Despite efforts to reduce chemotherapy use within 14 days of death, there has been no decrease and a shift to more expensive and futile treatments. To identify contributors to this trend, researchers from Yale Cancer Center and Flatiron Health analyzed a large #realworlddata set that included patient factors and practice-level variation. These findings can provide healthcare providers and policymakers with the information needed to enhance end of life care for cancer patients and their overall quality of life.
