Transitional justice describes the measures countries put into place to address legacies of conflict and human rights abuses. In the absence of any formal transitional justice mechanism in the US, Sites of Conscience are ideal places to facilitate and foster discussion around truth, justice, and reconciliation. To help American sites learn from the work already being done around the world, we paired up US-based Sites of Conscience with Sites of Conscience members in Colombia, The Gambia, South Africa, and Sri Lanka - all countries that have, or are currently undergoing transitional justice processes. In this series, participants will revisit these conversations, sharing what they have learned with you, our listeners. This podcast is a program of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience. Production by Better Lemon Creative Audio.

The ah nah: Conversations with Myanmar podcast was born from a desire to bring into public consciousness the atrocities that are currently being committed in Myanmar (also known as Burma). Our goal is simply to keep the conversation going and to let the people of Myanmar know that they have not been forgotten. We hope that through these conversations we can tell the stories of Myanmar and highlight the horrific human rights abuses that continue to be perpetrated by the Tatmadaw (military), under the watch of the UN and the international community in 2021 (yes, this is happening in 2021!) With so many amazing people both inside and outside the country working hard to fight for freedom and basic human rights, we want to offer a platform for these voices to be heard. Some have been fighting this cause for decades, others are just beginning to raise their voice. Through these informative and inspiring conversations we aim to give hope to the people of Myanmar, that they will one day experience real change and finally live freely and in peace.

Emotional abuse is an uncommon form of abuse but can be more harmful than physical abuse, being constantly criticized, judged, compared, negative comments, minimizing, neglecting etc.
I have been thru emotional abuse during my childhood, teen years and pre-adult. It really affected my self-esteem, confidence and self-worth. I wasn't aware of it until I was 20 years old because our society mostly talks about physical, verbal and sexual abuse and high school bullying.
I am ready to take you guys in my past journey of what I've experienced, the lessons I got out of it and advices for you guys. - Show more
